Heirloom quality Pure Pashmina Shawl in two colour, reversible BulBul, or “eye of the nightingale,” weave from the finest quality Pashmina gathered, processed, spun, and woven by hand. This is the legendary Pashmina, truly rare and originating in the high altitude plateaus and mountainous regions of Ladakh.

This extraordinary Pashmina fiber is gathered by herdsmen wandering the steeps of the Tibetan Plateau attained from the natural shedding of the Capra Hircus goat as it moves across the landscape. The Capra Hircus which is allowed to range freely at very high altitudes of 15,000 feet and above produces the finest and softest Pashmina fibers. The most luxurious pure Cashmere also originates from these same animals.

These herdsmen travel with their precious pouches of pure Pashmina and Cashmere into the wool merchant villages of Kashmir. There the wool is portioned to highly skilled women trained from childhood in the art of separating the Pashmina fiber (11-14 microns diameter) from Cashmere fiber (15-19 microns) and deadwool before color grading and spinning into delicate yarns. This is entirely a hand-process, and due to the exquisitely fine nature of this ultimate grade Pashmina, cannot be accomplished by mechanical means.
