Paisley Shawl designed for elegance in the mode of the grand shawls worn at the most influential courts of Kashmir, India, and France during the 17th century. This graceful shawl, or “shal,” exquisitely reflects an eclectic artistry drawn from the variety of cultures which harmoniously thrived in ancient Kashmir for many decades, a society of tolerance which included Hindu, Buddhist, Mughal, Persian, and a multitude of indigenous tribal traditions. It has been inspired by a flowing legacy of inner and outer beauty, created with the gloriously abundant display of flowers and refinement of craftsmanship which are hallmarks of highly prized Kashmiri Shawls.

Woven in deep, Fall Winter shades of Black, Antique Beige, Dark Ruby, Olive, Dark Mustard, and Rust, the field of this lovely full size shawl is creatively detailed with petite Flowers and Paisley motfs. The end borders are embellished with stately palace windows, garden gates, floral bouquets, and crest jewel patterns. Inspired by the treasured antique handwoven Kani weave Jamawar Shawls from Kashmir that required many years to complete, this graceful wrap iss fashioned with softly twisted fine yarns and an insulating weave particularly suitable for wear in cool temperatures, yet floats with a gentle weight across the shoulders.
Produced with soft Lambswool Pashm from England, spun and loomed in northern India, this delightful warmer mid-weight wool shawl is both beautiful and practical.
