Paisley Shawl - Kashmir - Teal, Dusty Peach, Aubergine, Golden, Dusky Marine Blue, Olive Green, subtle Red accents

Elegant, fine Paisley Shawl designed in the mode of the grand shawls worn at the most influential courts of Kashmir, India, and France during the 17th century. This graceful shawl, or “shal,” exquisitely reflects an eclectic artistry drawn from the variety of cultures which harmoniously thrived in ancient Kashmir for many decades, a society of tolerance which included Hindu, Buddhist, Mughal, Persian, and a multitude of indigenous tribal traditions. It has been inspired by a flowing legacy of inner and outer beauty, created with the gloriously abundant display of flowers and refinement of craftsmanship which are hallmarks of highly prized Kashmiri Shawls.

Woven in rich shades of Teal, Dusty Peach, Aubergine, Golden, Dusky Marine Blue, and Olive Green with subtle touches of Red accents, this lovely full size shawl features a stately Crest Jewel medallion in the center of the field surround by a treasure garden of lyrical scrolls, Paisley motifs, and Himalayan flowers. Patterned after an antique Kani weave Jamawar Shawl from the dynasty that also built the Taj Mahal, this unique, graceful wrap was fashioned with the generous help of private collectors who made their original shawls available to a trusted designer and producer so that the distinctive styles from that era may be enjoyed by others.
